soooo
I've been at school for about 3 weeks now, so I think it's time for an update. Here goes.
Things have been good! The beginning of school was kind of weird- it was a little bit of an adjustment settling into a different, non-filledwithallmyfriends bel air. The hallways were quiet and doors were closed a lot, and it was a little strange not being able to wander in almost any room to just sit down and hang out with people I knew. so...it definitely felt a little bit emptier at the beginning. I've definitely settled in, though. And a lot of the freshmen are really cool. Even the bros aren't bad, haha. I don't feel like I've been hanging out with people as much, though...working a little more (and sleeping), which is a good thing. But people hang out in the halls more now and wander down to our room, which is cool. So...it's nice. I like it, I think.
Aaand classes are good! I actually enjoy almost all of the classes I'm taking this semester...not loving all the reading I have...but it's college, so whatever. And I actually love all of my professors, which is great. I'm taking astronomy (with erica), and our professor is this awesome dude who still thinks pluto is a planet because he's bitter about having some meeting canceled (or interrupted or postponed or something) when they were deciding pluto's, um...planetary status? haha. I'm in 3D design (with sarah and annie), and I actually met my professor when I came here to visit senior year- he's this cute little asian man who's really funny and seems like an amazing teacher. I'm a little worried about the class, though...I've never done 3D anything, and a lot of people in the class are pretty good. hopefully I'll improve, though. anyway...I'm taking history (with so many arts people! like...6, I think. it's awesome), and our teacher is vicious. He makes it really interesting, which is realllly good because I am not a history person at all. Art history (also w/sarah) is good, too- it seems like it'll be a little easier than last year, which is always good. And our professor is usually really serious, but every once in a while he says some really sarcastic, funny comment that people don't catch/laugh at, but...I think it's funny. Anyway. I'm also in this class called Guidance of Young Children, which is soooo good. It's an upper level class which kind of scares me, but it doesn't seem too hard, and I really like the professor. He's a child psychologist, and he has this attitude of looking at anyone with problems as someone that you can help- idk, it definitely makes me more interested in going into some psych-related career. And we're not even really learning about kids now- we're just learning about emotions and how people react and how you can help them with stuff- that probably sounds boring, but it's really interesting to me. Wow, I just realized how long this paragraph is getting. sorry. I'm kind of writing everything just to get it out. so ignore this boring paragraph if you so desire, haha. Anyway, last thing...chorale! Sarah AND ben and jeff are in it this semester, which is so vicious. and we're singing at the kennedy center with the nso at the end of december, which will be awesome.
Ok. so that's school. The one thing that still sucks is not getting to see all the former bel air folk as much (the juniors. aah, juniors? y'all are oooold), because everytime I see everyone, I remember how much I love hanging out with them all. I'm glad we get to see each other on the weekends (and some at colloquium!), but it's not as much as I'd like. Oh well, I know people are really busy. Maybe that'll change as the semester goes on. I hope so, at least.
Ha, so things are good. I just exercised and showered and drank Naked juice which I got from the gym (it's amaazing! gaah) and I'm listening to Jack Johnson, so I'm currently clean and relaxed and in a very good mood. And tomorrow's Friday! No classes! woohooo
And I might go and paint pottery with my sister! yay :)
I'll try to update more often, rather than, like...every three weeks. We'll see how that goes, haha. For now I'm going to go read or do a crossword puzzle and chill. yay. Happy weekend, everyone :)
