A random assortment of morsels

I rode on a horse for the first time in probably 10 years in Kansas. It was fat and short, and her name was Lulabelle or something like that I think. Rode kind of like a donkey, and wasn't very exciting. I almost felt like I needed to walk bow-legged afterwards...stretches you in all the wrong places.

I am fascinated at how little people must have been in the 1800's. This house that survived on the 4H camp we stayed at in Kansas had rooms and doors for little people....or maybe I'm just used to supersized everything. After all, we really don't need 9 foot ceilings, or 4 foot wide doors. Just a thought.

Trying a front flip off the diving board ended in a nose full of water for me. I'm definitely not cut out as a diver. Feeding dog food to a bunch of fat trout was entertaining, though. As if they don't get enough food every day, it's a little weird to see about 20 trout roiling to the surface as they frantically grab for the food. We even got them to go after a fair sized crawdad...that sucker went down very quick.

Camp food...ahhh...what a way to put on the pounds! The best part of the meals was the twins that my Dad's cousin has, about 2 years old. You know, the "terrible 2's" are really a pretty accurate description of these fellers. On a night where one of the highlights of the menu including a healthy portion of mashed potatoes, one of the little ones (Max, I believe) got a hold of a great big handful of mashed taters and proceeded to spread them liberally into his ears, all over his face and worked into his hair before anyone else realized what was going on. Food is for playing, I suppose.

I'm off to bed, but more to come. Until Later,
