Travel Trepidations

As I drove back from Montana last night, I was haunted by a dread of impending doom. There were several reasons. The first might be that my family did not want me driving at night, especially having been awake the whole day before. When my mom worries, it makes me worry. Plus, I still have some residual fears from my own car wreck a few months ago.

Probably the most significant factors, however, were a couple of accidents that have happened recently to people I know. A family friend in Dillon rolled her SUV full of kids when swerving to miss a deer in the road. She and another guy were paralyzed by deep spinal bruises. (They're recovering feeling and movement, though) On a more tragic note, an old homeschooling friend from Bozeman was killed with her husband and five week-old baby in a high speed road rage accident. They didn't even see the truck coming because it was going over 100 mph. That was just a few weeks ago.

Normally I like driving. Having all that hanging over my head while driving alone for eleven hours straight was not my ideal trip. Oh well, I'm safe at home. Now I have a ton to do. No rest for the weary.
