After three more interviews, not all of which went well, I chose Dr. Bregman who is one of the biggest names in auditory scene analysis. Of the three profs I met, he was the only one who exhibited/offered all of the following:
1. Good ideas to experiment with
2. Real work for the student involved (as opposed to handing out questionnaires)
3. Sincere interest in working with me (as opposed to thinking any honors student is as good as any other as long as they shut up and do the work)
4. Intention to actually study brain functions (as opposed to STD's)
5. Christmas vacation off
6. Regard for violinists
7. On-campus, in-Stweart Bio location
8. Opportunity for continued summer research, paid and published
Dr. Bregman is retired and now works because he likes it. I am his only student this year, and we are going to have weekly one-on-one meetings. He always makes sure his students get their thesis in on time. This is a better deal than Nader (who conveniently rejected me for no reason), Rosberger, and Sziklas. Phew.
I can't explain the research I'm going to do yet, because some people in this LJ community are going to participate in my experiment. But I will show you when it's done and written/submitted/published.
Wheee!
