And as it does, it gets closer to my cut-off date and marches inexorably closer to the conclusion that I will be in the military soon without a real job offer. The thought doesn't bother me, I guess that's a hallmark of my personality, but the thought has brought a much tougher exercise regime

If you go into the military I'd really like to send you letters and care packages and stuff. Of course it's totally up to you. :)

I would of course like to get letters from you Jill! Unfortunately, care packages cause.. issues.. in Basic and AIT. Mainly, there's a HUGE list of stuff that you can't have until you've basically earned the right to have it. So, rather than going through that list it's easier to just send a nice letter.

I would love that Jill, just not while I'm in training (they tend to be very harsh about what you can and can't have during that time period.)

Not quite yet. I'm in the enlistment process now, which is a bunch of paperwork. If I'm accepted at a preliminary level, I need to go before an Officer Candidate Selection board for an interview. If I'm accepted then, I'll have to wait for the next training cycle for Officer Candidates. It could be a while before I actually go.
