I got back from the Middle Tennessee Anime convention a few hours after being in the car for SIX AND A HALF (-_- the weather here has been horrible. We were stuck two miles from our exit for FOUR HOURS. Damn rain...). I also missed the entire last day of the convention because I just really wanted to go home and shower.

See, because of the weather, my mom wanted to come get me Saturday at about 4.30 but I manage to get a hold of a friend of mine and he said I could stay in his room for the night. Great! The only downside was... I had no clothes and the Quaff concert (the Japanese band that performed) left me feeling very nasty cause it was hot as hell in the performance room. Fun as hell though!

Run down of my two days~

FRIDAY
Got there about 3 (-_- missed somethings I wanted to go to), wandered around the art room for a while, and then noticed that Travis Willingham (Roy Mustang - FMA, Takashi Morinozuka - OHSHC, others) was signing autographs so I got his (one for me an one for a friend), stopped by the dealer room an bought some stuff ($95 is not nearly enough for a con. I DIDN'T EVEN BUY ANY FOOD WHILE I WAS THERE, JUST PRETTIES), then puttered around some more till opening ceremonies. Then I wandered around for an hour till dodgeball. At night. OUTSIDE~

In the spirit of an epic dodgeball match about five years ago between Travis Willingham and Vic Mignogna and their fans (which Travis lost), and since they were both at this con, we had an epic rematch~ We had to sign wavers (understandable), and those were used to pick us for each match, so every one could have a chance to play. I was on the Red team, which had Vic (team Black had Travis) and played in the third match. I'm happy to say I didn't get out AND~ I managed to get Travis out that match too! I threw a ball at him and it just barely slipped out from his fingertips~ *smug*

Red team won the dodgeball match 4-3, though Vic and Travis only played six of the games. Oh! I also asked Travis for a hug since I forgot to ask while I got his autograph, and hugged Vic after the match I was in

Afterwards I headed back inside and saw that Vic was doing autographs in the art room and that the line wasn't too long (where as the ones Saturday AND Sunday [from what I've heard] were long). I bought two of his CDs for me and my friend for him to sign, told him I got Travis out in the dodgeball match and got a high five for that, then got another hug.

Then I went to the Zombie panel which was pretty cool, then went home. While at home mom told me that if I didn't do the dishes then I couldn't go back (cause she was driving me). THAT PISSED ME OFF SO MUCH. MTAC was a Christmas present, bitch! And she knew that!

SATURDAY
Got up at 8 (after four hours of sleep -_- silly me~) took a shower and got mom up. She wanted to sleep till 10 and I was like, "But there's a panel I want to go to at 10!" So she got her ass outta bed and got me there by 9. Puttered around for a while then headed to Doug Smith and Sonny Strait's panel, which was really fun~ (and Sonny was a few minutes late and dragging a suitcase with him). They also had some trouble with the mic's, but that was okay.

See, only about 20~25 people showed up for Doug and Sonny's panel, which was sad. Then BAM, clock hits 11 and people just start POURING in for Vic's Q&A panel, which was also pretty fun. He also had one of his Gospel of John CDs (he recorded himself reading a modern version of that book and played the piano under it and gives them to fans for free at cons), then when he asked if any one wanted the copy he was holding a lot of us (myself included) raised our hands and I got it! *squee* I wanted to get it signed, but didn't get the chance. Oh well.

Then comes 12n and pretty much every one leaves. In come Neil Kaplan, Colleen O'Shaunessy, Travis, Laura Bailey, and Spike Spencer (who was a little late). No one was really sure what the panel was exactly supposed to be about, but we made the most of it and had fun!

Then I got outta the main room and promptly got in line for Vic's concert, which was also really fun. I sang along with the songs I knew.

After his concert went to a Japanese concert etiquette panel, and after that I headed back out into the art room and stopped buy the Quaff table outta curiosity. Quaff is a six person Japanese band (MTAC's first) that I had never listened to or even heard of before, and had started the day thinking I wasn't even going to go to their concert. But I stopped by the table and figured I'd by at least a CD and a small signed Polaroid. As I was looking at the Polaroid's, one of the girls working the table said that I could get a pass for an autograph and a picture with the band after the concert if I spent at least $20. So I also got a pick that had been pre-signed by guitarist Makito (my Polaroid is also Makito) and decided then and there I was going to the concert.

And then 4 o'clock came around
I had just bought my Quaff stuff and had made my decision to to to their concert when my mom called, telling me she was coming to get me from the con because of the weather. I was crushed. I had just made these plans and here she was telling me I was going home. I broke down in tears and talked with the girls running the Quaff panel about it for a moment (still in tears) before heading to the hotel's lobby where I remembered my friend was staying at the con and had said I could crash with him and his friends.

I gave him a call and asked if that offer was still open, got the okay that is was and called my mom, who reluctantly agreed to let me stay the night. I let the girls at the panel know that I was coming to the concert, then headed to my friend's room for free pizza (my only food Satuday. ONLY).

After eating I headed to the Cosplay Sit Out cause I had no real interest in the main Cosplay thing, and there was much snarky fun and free pocky to be had~ And this really creeoy, kinda crazy chick who I do not want to remember. The sit-out ended at 8 and I toyed with the thought of going to the Stump Vic panel, but figured it be better to get in line for Quaff, who was supposed to perform at 9.

I was in that line two hours, mainly because Cosplay ran pretty late. Worst thing was we couldn't sit. Then at 10 we were allowed in the main room. I managed to get a really good spot near the middle of the stage about 2 rows back and I could see all the band members real well. 10.30 rolls around and the band finally starts to take the stage, all carrying roses that they threw out to the audience (they also did that two more times over the course of the night). I caught the rose thrown by vocalist Seiya (but I gave it to a new friend because she couldn't get an autograph)!

And then it started and was AMAZING! Best night ever. THEY OPENED WITH THE GHOSTBUSTERS THEME (I think. It really sounded like is...). So much fun. Seiya and Ukisemi (MC/second vo) talked in English (pretty good English too!) between some of the songs. At one point Seiya grabbed a water bottle and taking it with him to the stage extension asked if we were hot and wanted some water as he took a few drinks before turning around witha quick 'Dame' and walking back to where Hal's drums were set up.

At the very end, after the encore the bands members all came out on to the extension to grab fans hands (this was also the only time there was ever any pushing). Because of my awesome place, I manage to grab Ukisemi, Makito, and other guitarist Takuma's hands, and I think maybe Seiya's too. Well, it was more like my hand brushed there's, except for Makito. He grabbed my arm just above my wrist and I responded in kind. Damn does that man have a strong grip.

And then we headed out of the room to line up for autographs~ I got a good place near the front of the line too. When the band came out we had to back up the line some so the first person was in the right place and some of us started making 'beep beep' noises as we did so and Seiya joined in as we moved. It was so cute.

I had them sign the booklet of the CD I bought and got to shake each member's hand. Shingo (bassist and Japanese flutist for the band) actually shook my hand with both of his (and I sort of did the same). He has really warm hands.

Then we all got in line for our picture. It was going to be in the art room, then we moved to the photoshoot room, but it was locked and the hotel didn't want to unlock it so they moved us to the presidential suite on the second floor. 40+ of us (plus the band and the people helping them out) in a fairly small room in a DESIGNATED QUIET AREA OF THE HOTEL. WITH CON-GUESTS SLEEPING IN THE ROOMS NEXT TO US AND ACROSS THE HALL. With the warning that if we got even one complaint we couldn't get photos done. We managed though, thankfully.

A friend I made agreed to take a pic for me and said she's send it. Well, actually the translator took out pics with peoples' cameras. They set it us so that whoever was having their picture done would be in the sitting between the vocalists with the other four behind. When it was my turn for my picture, Seiya acted like he was pulling a line in. It was really cute, and also made me a bit embarrassed.

After all that I headed to my friend's room and crashed for the night. I woke when mom called and she agreed to come get me. I gave my autograph book to my friend and he got me the ones I missed.

Best story about that is when Spike Spencer was writing in mine my friend hadn't told him it was for me, so then Spike scratched out my friend's before writing 'For *insert name here*, DAMMIT'. So funny.

And thus ended my MTAC time~

I managed to make it home alright even with the stupid rain (there's been so much it's been flooding. 15 inches in two days. Broken May's record for rainfall), and then figured I should post about it to LJ.

And now I should REALLY go to sleep...

Also, longest entry EVER~

quaff, mtac
