Sooooooooo......

.....it's been a while since I posted huh?

Life took over for a while there, and I really didn't feel like posting. I ran out of money back in January and had to take a leave of absence from DigiPen. Since then I've been living in Port Orford, OR at my parent's B&B. Basically I'm bored out of my mind and want to get back to school. Luckily I got back in already, and will be going back up there in September, with a more stable financial situation.

So needless to say, being bored out of my mind leaves lots of time for videogames. Yea I work and whatnot, but still, once I get home there's not much else to do, since there's all of 0 people in Port Orford that I would regularly talk to. Thankfully, there was a whole shit list of RPGs I had to blow through that DigiPen scheduling kind of made hard to play.

On the PS2 side, I rolled through Final Fantasy 12. Honestly, this has become probably my favorite FF game. The story may not have been as engaging as some of the older FF games, but I'll be damned if that wasn't the best battle system they've had yet. Add to that the licensing system, and I couldn't stop playing that game for a long time.

After that, I played through Tales of the Abyss. If you're a fan of the Tales series, there should be nothing stopping you from playing this game. However, if you've never played a Tales game, this would be a great place to start. The story was fabulous (although the voice acting personally leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth), and the characters worked great together. The free roam battle system keeps a bit of the standard side scrolling tales battles in there while allowing for full 3D movement, allowing you to dodge enemy attacks if you're paying enough attention. All in all, I couldn't have been more pleased with this game.

Much of the same can be said about the next game I played (and will finish once I get done with my NJ vacation on Tuesday), Tales of Legendia. Although this uses a more traditional fixed Tales battle system, it still is a great example of a more action based RPG.

For my future plays on the PS2, I'm mostly sticking with RPGs. I've still yet to play Rogue Galaxy and Odin Sphere was just released, so these two alone should take up a nice bit of time. However, this will be broken up a bit when Guitar Hero: Rock the 80s comes out next month.

Speaking of Guitar Hero, that is the only game that has touched my 360 for about 4 months now. If anyone is ever looking for my scores, they're under schenksmill1. By the time I get back up to Washington and finally get some real internet again, Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band will be out, and I'll be able to take some of you guys on.

As for everything else, I've been playing a lot of random games on the DS, but nothing particularly memorable (yay spring boredom), although there were a couple of noteable games in Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales and Oeundan 2.

The PSP (and DS) gave me a nice surprise earlier on this year in Puzzle Quest. Any fans of Bejewled owe it to themselves to play this beast. One recent release that I've been playing the past couple days is Crush, which so far has been another great puzzle game on the PSP. Other than that, I've mostly been playing old PS1 games thanks to some less than official firmware.

Rounding out the mess is the Wii finally providing me with another game in Super Paper Mario. Thankfully the Wii lineup looks to be picking up later on this year with releases like Mario Strikers Charged, Metroid Prime 3, Battalion Wars 2, Disaster, and last but hopefully not least, NiGHTS.

Anyhoo, I'm bored and the Yankees are blowing the game again, so I'm out for a while. Maybe I'll remember to make this somewhat of a regular updating process.
