Okay just going to... dump these ideas here.
Basically, while drawing a A:TLA/Homestuck crossover fusion thing, I got an interesting idea for a story.
The kids need to save/recreate/reset the world! The spirit would collapsing in on the real world-reality is ripping up and that’s kind of a whole lot of bad. The exact time is not yet set but it’s the era after the Avatar and thus the spirit world is seriously out of joint. Things need to be reset so that there can be an Avatar and everyone doesn’t die.
JOHN: An air bender, but no tattoos (or glasses) since he’s not a master yet.
ROSE: Water bender from Northern Water Tribe. Grimdark bloodbender later on.
DAVE: Fire Nation, non-bender, fights with sword, raised by his super badass fire bender/swordsman Bro, who is basically a legend in the fire nation. I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT FIRE NATION DAVE.
JADE: Earth bender, raised by a powerful earth spirit/plot device in a very secluded space in the Earth Kingdom. Bec is important!! “ She basically lives in a palace that was left there by her DEAD GRANDFATHER.” She's been able to access the spirit world in her dreams for basically her entire life, so she knows more about what's going to happen and stuff.
KARKAT: ANGRY FIREBENDER. (I have no idea how he'll end up included in this, or any of the trolls, really, but bear with me.)
SADLY I HAVE NOT DRAWN HIM YET :(
Basically, since there is no longer an Avatar in this far future era, the four kids ended up having the ability to commune with the spirit world in their sleep. Bec is an extremely powerful Earth spirit, basically what the Avatar should be but for some reason it is unable to take on a human vessel. Some cataclysmic event happens (a comet crashing into the earth?) that causes the spirt world to collapse in on itself, basically stopping reality. The four kids (and Karkat? i really have no idea how the trolls will factor into this) are the only hope for reality itself. They have to enter the spirit world through some sort of symbolic way, blah blah, they face a ton of different challenges from the spirits in order to create the NEW AVATAR and basically reset the universe to put things in balance.
Obviously I would need to change the ethnicities of the kids and their names for them to fit in the A:TLAverse, but I don't feel like researching that right now.
HERE ARE THE IDEAS FOR THE TROLLS IF THEY WERE SOMEHOW A PART OF THIS
KARKAT: The angriest fire bender on the planet. And possible of ALL TIME.
SOLLUX: A better fire bender than Karkat.
VRISKA: Fire nation; not sure if she bends or not yet.
KANAYA: Earth Kingdom; KYOSHI WARRIOR?
TEREZI: Earth Kingdom; kind of basically Toph.
TARVOS: Air nomad, bison tamer with a billion lemurs.
ARADIA: AIrbender??????
FEFERI: Water bender, princess of South Pole.
ERIDAN: Water Tribe, non-bender.
GAMZEE: Hippie nomadic screwball
EQUIUS: Ba Sing Se-Earth Nation stuffypants
NEPETA: Earth Kingdom yay
