Christmas is almost upon us & the bills are piling up. Lots to pay. I'll be finishing night duty Christmas mornin, so I'll come home see the kids unwrap their presents, & then get some sleep. Then after a few hours it'll be up & off to do the Christmas things. Hopefully I won't be too grumpy and tired. I'm sure a few glasses of wine will either put me to sleep or wake me up.
Yesterday while I was at work Joel, with Luke, pushed a chair up to the pool gate & opened it, and had about half of the safety net off the pool by the time Danni thought they were being too quiet & went to check. This is partly because I had Jess, Keiron, Nathan & Vanessa plus kids & others over on Sunday. Despite the cold Keiron, Joel & jess' daughter Matilda went for a paddle & Joel wanted to go inagain yesterday. Danni has now once again locked up all pool gates.
Vanessa & Nathan have asked me to be Godfather to one of their twin girls, Hannah. I have agreed to this, & sometime in coming months there will be the whole Chuch type thing happening. Hannah & Bethany are still pretty small, so I think that we have plenty of time.
I think that Joel & Luke will do okay with Christmas gifts this year. I am hoping that they enjoy this year.
I sent Maria & Helmut, plus Sarah Winger, a small package of Chocolates for Christmas. Just three Cadbury blocks, plus a large chocolate coin & a few Aussie chocolate coins. As usual I also made the offer to Rosie, but as usual, no reply was recieved. I paid the usual high postage, but at the post office they told me that the US Government has whacked a $9 "Security Surcharge" onto all small packages going to the US. It may be more for larger packages. What a crock. Strikes me as a cynical ploy to get extra money from foreigners to prop up their budget. Have heard back from Maria & Helmut, but nothing as yet from our American cousins.
Maria advises that Uncle Willi is now in a nursing home & his house has been sold. I assume that his step son, Klaus, arranged this? Certainly we were not involved. It's probably for the best us he has a habit of turning up in foreign countries unexpectedly, & Maria & Helmut have their hands full with Aunt Emma & I doubt the US rellies would be interested in looking after him.
Luke has been unsettled a lot at night of late. He's teething now. He had grommits put in a few weeks ago, which really seem to have helped.
Posting this during a dinner break at work (Shift Leader of the ED today). Have to head back now.
