On Saturday night, Margarethe and I proposed to one another on our knees in my apartment. We both said yes. Yesterday afternoon, we bought rings in a bubble-gum machine outside of Kroger. It took two quarters to get a ring that would fit my finger, and then it only fit my pinky. We're going to the metal shop in the Fine Arts building later this week to work on a more "permanent" set of rings, but deep down I'm perfectly happy with the silly, gaudy, cheap one I have now. I know exactly what it means to me, and how beautiful that is. I've never been more in love. I'm going to die in her arms (as I do each time she smiles at me while we embrace, only better).
Cheers to everyone in the world today. The sun's rising just above the trees.
