Something silly happens everywhere

Is there an everywhere current journeyphenomenon?

I came back from my parents this morning by train and in my compartement developed an interessting habit at my journey comrades. It reminds me immediately of this airplane-tomato-juice-phenomenon that happens everytime an aircraft is in the air. You know what I mean don't you? The thing that everyone orders tomatojuice after starting.
It seems to be very similar in trains, but I'm afraid down to earth, when you're on the rails, its more like an infectous disease. If some person starts eating, you can be sure that another one will eat too!! That happened to me. Two kids sat behind me, siblings, who get on train with me in Harburg.
They started eating their bread and it seemed to me that the scent of bread with butter was in the whole waggon. I put on the headset of my mp3-player to not need to hear the noice of chewing, which always drives me crazy. While ignoring the kids, my eyes met the roll of the ugly man in front of me who starts eating too!! Fully disgusted by the view of an middle-aged man with swollen cheeks, chewing his muck I turned my eyes to the other side of the seats and what the heck must I see?? An old couple suddenly started eating their croissants from the bakery. And one row in front of them? One of these new-modern banker-/lawyercouples on some kind of businesstrip as well started to eat their bakerystuff.

Now I had two options for my frustrated self: 1. Ignore the whole stuff!! (sounds good, huh?)
2. Start eating like a coward too. Sounds yummy, because I got hungry in the meanwhile.

But I decided in the first points favour and let my gaze wander over passing townstations and boring terraced houses, during Brian Molkos voice sounds so sexy through my headset while he sang Pink Water.

Nevertheless I couldn't miss the voice of the trainconductor praising the boardbistro... *grummel*
