"Whether you've seen every episode a dozen times, whether you vaguely remember getting bored with the show as a kid, whether you cringe at the mention of all things Trek, whether you're wondering what that RDM fellow was up to before BSG, whether you're not even particularly interested in sci-fi, I hope you'll give this post a chance! If nothing else, it's a bunch of pretty pictures to kill a few minutes, and hey, you just might find a new fandom in the process. ;)"
eponymous-rose has posted
an introduction to Deep Space Nine (note: spoilers in the comments, but not in the post) on their journal. It's a long post but it comes with a lot of pictures and even more reasons to love the show.
It also comes with a bit of background info for anyone new to Trek in general and with introductions to the characters that make the show what it is. And you know what? I think DS9 is one of the main reasons (it's definitely one of the earliest) why I love "teams" so much today. Because that's what its characters end up being: a team. Their interactions with each other, and each of them standing on their own as well, and their development over the course of the show's seven seasons - it's all part of why DS9 is, to this day, one of my favourite shows (and this is from someone who can count the TV shows she really likes on one hand) and so near and dear to my heart.
In short, I love DS9, and eponymous-rose explains why.

"On July 1st, Paramount's live action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender opens in theatres across North America.
Do not see this film. Do not pay to see this film. Do not give this production any of your hard earned money, be it through ticket sales, merchandise, or the eventual DVD sales. And here is why."
ssj10 explains once again
why the The Last Airbender movie is appalling. You've heard me rant about it before, you're probably tired of hearing about this, but it bears repeating. The Avatar: The Last Airbender cartoon, right along with DS9 and Criminal Minds is one of the only three TV shows I really, really love dearly, but I will not watch this movie, and I will definitely not pay for it or anything associated with it. And, well, my idealistic side can't help but hope that maybe, just maybe, I can convince at least one person to rethink their plans to watch and pay for this movie.

Picking a single quote to sum up the following link turned out to be a bit difficult, so I'll just have you know that
Puel's Penetration Post (it's alliterative) by, well,
puella_nerdii, gets one big "WORD!" from me. As she says, it covers a lot of ground in a surprisingly (for someone as rambly as I tend to be XD) succinct fashion and is well worth a read too.
