I've been rewatching "Tangled" on netflix, and now I know why I didn't go out and buy the DVD the minute it came out.
The movie is nice enough, but there's nothing standout about it. The music is just okay, not catchy or booming. The story isn't great or catchy, the sidekicks aren't especially memorable, and the music is not stuck in my head the way it was with all the other Disney movies I've seen since "Little Mermaid."
I didn't like "The Princess and the Frog," but the colors were brighter, the voices and characters better, and some of the music was just much better.
Eh, I just hope the next Disney film tries harder to capture the amazingness in music and story and animation.
Like, "Sleeping Beauty" was wonderfully stylized. "Cinderella" was cute and catchy, etc.
BRB I'm going to rewatch "Cinderella" now. And then "Mulan", especially the "I'll make a man out of you" sequence." :D
