Funzies

I'm sad cuz i said buh-byes to Becky today as she took off for MHT airport to head home to San Diego. But, sans the horrible thunder and lightning storms we've had daily, she had a really good stay here in her former home state, Mass. We went to Faneull Hall on Thursday and i was sooo glad we did - the weather actually turned out nice while we were there. We bought a few things - she got a nice MFA tote and i bought a lovely scarf at Urban Outfitters and a really funny journal called "Wreck This Journal" and in it, it has all these different tasks for you to do on each page - really silly funny things like smear your lunch on the page or 'draw lines while on a mode of transportation'. I made lines on that page when we were coming home on the T...i was giggling my head off reading the book. I get a kick out of things like that - i love filling out lists and answering questionaires and stuff, so this book was really up my alley...and it's ridiculous and silly, which is also completely appealling to me. Always. Beck had a case of allergies while she was here, so her tastebuds and appetite were kinda on the fritz that day. We didn't eat anything extravagant or fun in Boston that day...it would've been a waste to go to Bella Vista and to have ordered a big gorgeous italian entree that she wouldn't taste, enjoy or finish. Another time. Earlier in the week, we went to all the other foody stops she wanted to hit - Dunkin Donuts for their coolattas, The Singapore for their perfect crab rangoons, T.C. Lando's for their gigantic steak n'cheese subs and she went to Woo Jung (korean) with her cousin Jessica and new hubby Joe for bulgogi and kimbob. Numminess abounded. I hadda work that day :( . Work's been goony - i'm thankful that i had a short work week. Lois, my one employee, quit. So, i'm on my own again. S'ok though - i'd rather her gone to be honest - she drove me nuts with her hypochondriac-ness...and she also had the most annoying monotone voice you've ever heard. She made Ben Stein sound exuberant. So, my work load changed/increased to some degree but it'll pan out. There's been a lot of changes at work lately that have really stirred up a lot of resentment and unhappiness in the ranks. Stupid changes like we can only call each other by our proper names, no nicknames allowed. They're enforcing a dress code now - no jeans, no shirts or hats with any type of logo or insignia other than our own...stupid trivial crap like that. The place is losing it's "family" feel and becoming more of a corporation. There's other stuff happening as well, stuff i don't want to bother to type out, but it's sad to see the place i love lose it's appeal in some ways and especially to see great people that have been there forever quitting due to the new changes in management and policies and such. I hope things mellow.
Anyway, i have things to do tomorrow - i desperately need to get groceries, i'm starting to get creative with the few things i have left in my pantry ("Hmm...brownrice and spam lite tacos..that goes!"). First though, i want to shop around Salvation Army and that awesome antique place (Silent Partners) in Leominster to see what they have for desks. I need one. First the desk, then the computer i'm going to buy, then the internet service hook up, then an ipod, then fun for hours! I was playing with Becky's Ipod Nano and was so in love with the idea of having such a cool toy of my own with all my favorite songs on it. Ipod's (and any new technology or gadget) scare me - i'm easily intimidated by techy-toys. But when i saw how easy it was and what the silly little thing can actually do, i was so enamoured with it. I must have one! Sooo cool. Excuse me while i go make a call on my rotary dial phone. (i keed.)
