One of my pretty big pet peeves was on display today. I really dislike it when males do not hold open doors for females. I love it when a boy actually opens a door for me, but that happens so rarely that I don't even bother. When I was walking out of the science building this morning, some guy in front of me literally let the door slam in front of my face. It would have taken about a second or two for him to pause and hold the door until I was able to take it from him. I mean, this isn't even so much about males being chivalrous as much as it is common decency or just being polite towards others (I hold doors open). If she's too far behind you that it would just be awkward to keep the door open that long, then it doesn't matter, but if she's pretty much directly behind you I just think that's sort of rude. No one likes a door closing in their face. But anyway, that didn't bother me until I left the science building to go to math and the same thing happened again by a different guy. I mean, did their moms not teach them manners? But! when I was walking to government after math class, the guy walking in front of me actually stopped and opened the door all the way for me. I was so pleased/surprised that I said, "Thank you! There's not enough boys like you around." So boys, be courteous towards the ladies and impress them at the same time by opening the door and letting them walk in first. Just a suggestion.
