So much for having simple meals yesterday... here's a tribute to stingrays.
well last evening, mom didn't cook as she said she's going to eat porridge, yes just plain porridge, and I know I wasn't going to survive with just that, so i headed to TP Lorong 8, one of my usual hunts - Ocean curry fish head restaurant to get dinner. If you know where I'm talking about, the renovation has been completed and it looks spanking clean, far from the 1960s coffeeshop look (think: mosaic floor tiles and walls of soot).
And as usual the queue is horrendously long.
With this stall, it's difficult to point at what I want. as the array of food stretches quite long so i'll have to verbally instruct what I want, which poses a tiny weeny problem because for one, my grasp of the chinese language doesn't encompass completely the name of edible animals and vegetables *opps*, and two at least half the fleet of workers there are PRCs. So ..... you get the idea. *double opps*
Anyway, when it was my turn to order,
"小姐, 给我 otah, 菜花和 sting ray."
She gets the otah, yes and the brocoli/cauliflower, ah yes, then I see her scooping the steam egg...
"小姐,我不要蒸蛋,我要 sting ray" *omg... I swear it sounded RETARDED*
"对啊,给你steam egg!"
“不是,不是, 那个,那个...“ Last resort.. point! *sheepish*
So there you go, learn your chinese well. lol. What is spinach and lady's finger?
