My credit score is not as bad as I thought. It's not bad or excellent; it's just "fair." But just barely. It's only 10 points greater than the lowest "fair" rating. I think the fact that I got several Sallie Mae loans (student loans) that I've consolidated and have been paying on time (when I was incapacitated, my dad actually paid them, since

i just enrolled in this identity theft protection program and with it i'm able to see all the credit reports and scores. so money and debt and credit have been on my mind... i did find this website recently that was pretty interesting and had lots of articles written by lawyers (i guess), it seems like a pretty legit site like they're not trying to sell anything:

also, some articles here:

also, this is from the FTC:

i read in one of those articles that department store cards don't help build or repair your credit because they don't usually report to the bureaus, and if you're afraid of going wild it's probably best to not open one. i want to start building my credit up and was thinking of getting a jcrew card... but that's just trouble. i know i can't resist buying the whole store.
find out when your statute of limitations is up. they can't garnish your wages unless a judge tells them they can. so if you do ever get sued, you can make a case so that won't happen. these collection agency people are scummy and will threaten you with a lot, but rarely follow through. they want an easy kill.
good luck!!

I checked the statutes of limitations a couple of days after I posted this, and found that the statute of limitations in Utah is...actually I forgot, but it's after I graduate. New York is similar. I wonder if they keep up with my employment status. Otherwise, I don't know how else they'll find out about me, and they haven't contacted me at all since I stopped paying. I wonder if they just ruled me out as a lost cause.
My friend and her mom are constantly being hassled by a law firm that represents a collection agency of her student loans. They are scummy. My friend wrote a cease and desist letter 'cause they were bothering her mom at her office. Her mom lives in SC, and under the state law, she's very well protected. They can't garnish her wages. She's also getting social security, but under federal law, they can't garnish that either. My friend, on the other hand, is worried about herself. But she never signed anything and didn't know anything about the loan 'cause her mom did all the paperwork, so she's thinking of using that as an excuse so she won't have to pay. I don't know what will happen to her mom, though, if she does that because she probably signed for her, which means she could be charged for falsifying her signature.
When I was still delusional, I made my entries public because I thought I had nothing to hide since my controllers knew everything. I should start making my entries friends-only again.
