I know everything I said about Valentine's day. But, recent events have given me a whole new prospective on the subject at hand. Some very wonderful girls cooked dinner for my brother, Baker and me tonight because they knew that we were single and we didn't like Valentine's day. It was brought to my attention that there are many different kinds of love and the love of friends is just as important as romantic love. Thank you ladies so much for making a very impressive and wonderful gesture. If I wasn't feeling under the weather I might have just finished off that entire meal all by myself. With all of the events of tonight in mind I'd like to change my postion on Valentine's Day.
I still beleive that the people who profit most from Valentine's Day are card companies, jewlers, florists, and candy companies, but the idea behind it now has a much better meaning. Andy Heaton can take all the credit for this statement, Sometimes people are just so caught up in the rat race that is life that they take for grated the things that they are most blessed to have, ie their loved ones. Maybe the idea for this holiday was motivated mainly by corporate america, but the feeling behind it is a good one. I now believe that the holiday gives us a chance to take a second to stop and give some appreication to the people who mean the most to us in our lives. Family, friends, and lovers all are gifts from our creater that deserve at least one day a year in which they can be showered with love and affection.
While I am not someone who has yet found a special someone to spend the rest of my life with, I can appreciate the blessing that is love.
So, to all of you out there lucky enough to be in a relatioship with someone you care for and who cares for you in return, let them know how much they mean to you. Don't wait until you don't have them in your life anymore to let them know how much they mean to you, that's a very stupid thing to do.
Now that I'm off the soap box, I bid you a good night. I've got Biology 105 homework calling my name. Later.
Chah.
