Premise Poll Results

Sep 09, 2008 18:51

Before I get to the Premise Poll results, I have a couple of reminders:

The first Short Script Challenge ends in roughly 5 hours.  Post a link to your personal LJ entry as a comment in this thread if you want to compete.  The winner will be forever immortalized on our user info page.  We have some awesome entries already.  Don't miss your chance to take part in our inaugural challenge!

frustratedpilot  posted a fun exercise where the goal is to write a synopsis for a screenplay in 60 scenes.  This exercise is a great way to expand your creativity as a screenwriter.  Check it out!

I'm looking for someone, or multiple someones, who are willing to head up the review committee.  If you're interested, please send me a message!  While the time commitment should be minimal, the positive impact it will have on the community will be great.  Help yourself and your fellow community members become better screenwriters by becoming involved in the review committee!

And now, the results of the poll!

The winning premise is:  At age 53, with children grown, a man looses his wife and his job, and begins a journey of discovery. He meets a 19 year old drifter, a high-school drop-out, and both are changed by their friendship.

The race was very, very close.  We had a lot of phenomenal ideas.  All of them would make simply wonderful screenplays.  I'm going to start working on the scene cards for it this week.  I would love to hear any ideas for scenes, characters, or locations that you might have.

Some interest has been expressed to start another Feature Length Screenplay competition once the first one gets sufficiently underway.  It's an idea that I'm toying with but I'm not 100% sure about it.  If you have any opinion one way or the other, let me know.  As always, the input of this community is valuable to me.  I want this community to be a reflection of its members and not just a reflection of what I want or think is best.

We will be doing "Chatter Posts" once a week.  I'll get the first one posted this week.  I know from experience they are an excellent way for members to get to know one another.  I know I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you better.

Articles on personal screenwriting experiences will be accepted.  I'll get some basic submission guidelines together and post them in the next few days.
