Symphony and choir were excellent, Anthony Daniels was a fun and slightly excessive MC, and the fact that the montages from the movies on the giant screen virtually eliminated dialogue meant that even episodes I - III were palatable. The visuals, after all, were stunning. I even found myself tearing up a few times.
Because of an accident on 680 I literally had to run flatout several blocks to get inside before it all began, but once there I had a great time. Thank you, Star Wars in Concert, for bringing me back to childhood magic. :)
Another quite wonderful bonus was sharing adjacent seats with an old college friend I haven't seen in many years (and then on the sad occasion of a wake for a mutual dear friend). It was amazing not only to bump into him and his very nice wife and cute kid at the HP Pavilion, but to be next to each other in the same row!
Speaking of seating--could not have asked for better--center of the row, on the arena floor, four rows back. Perfect view of entire symphony, great view of the screen, could practically lob a spitwad at Anthony Daniels, and so close I could feel the whack of heat from the pyrotechnics. Yes, there were gouts of flame--Mustafar, ya know.
I kept wondering if the classical musicians were having fun--screaming fans, a Pink Floyd-esque laser light show, and real flame. It was like being symphonic rock stars.
Bonus giggles for the song over the PA after the show as we were all filtering out -- Major Tom. Star Wars and Bowie... a good day.
Also, a good costume and prop display. Expensive ticket, but I'd say worth it.
Evil Sidious--note the flames...
