I don't know if you've been following the fires in the Anaheim hills, but the atmosphere is noticeably smoky between the Anaheim Amtrak station and Irvine station.
(That lyric in the post headline is a paraphrase from a Rancid song called Brad Logan, and the actual lyric is "The California sun has sunk / behind the Anaheim hills, here comes the night," which if you think about it is a little weird, because the person singing the song would have to be east of the Anaheim hills in order for the sun to sink behind them. But anyway.)
