My wife threw out her back on Wednesday night at the gym. No, not while exercising, but while trying - perhaps ill-advisedly - to stretch out her inner back between exercises. She could barely walk when I went to pick her up that evening. We had to leave her car there, and all activities (including but not limited to: walking, sitting, standing, and sleeping) were near torture for her.

She went to the Chiropracter yesterday afternoon and got X-rayed, then got adjusted there this morning. She's doing much better today, but is still in pain. We anticipate about two weeks of recovery time.

I had to go get her car from the gym parking lot today, and so decided to ride my bike over there. That may have been a bad idea. I worked out on Wednesday as well, you see, and it's the workout that my trainer calls the "Breakout" workout. It is extremely effective cardio, but it also leaves you sore from your neck to your ankles; no muscle group goes untouched. The trip to the gym is about 2.5 miles, no big deal, except that it's got about four good hills, and I'm out of practice on the bike. I made it in about 20 minutes, but my quads were like iron cylinders, and I could barely walk into the grocery store.

I think I'm gonna start riding my bike to the gym on days when I work out my upper body, get a little extra cardio. Make it hurt!

So now we're both on our laptops at the dining room table, she working, and me looking up freshwater aquarium info online. No-Pudge brownies are baking in the oven, and life is good.
