A wholly uninteresting "Hi, I'm back" post.
Hi! I came back from the family visit yesterday, but was kind of overwhelmed by trying to catch up with stuff right now. I looked over all of skip=600, but would have gone crazy if I attempted commenting on much, so sorry for not really talking to anyone lately! Promise to better myself, this time for real. :"> There's also still Christmas presents that aren't done, and packets and postcards that are not sent off. I FAIL. Also, I still haven't got any concrete plans for New Year's Eve, which sort of sucks, but whatever, I'll just see what comes up. Also, after weeks of stress and a week at home with people around me 24/7, it feels completely weird to be in an empty apartment (nairie is still at luthien82's), with more than a weekend of no real obligations ahead. I thought I'd be glad about it, but it's just strange.
Random: One of the bus drivers on the way back from Düsseldorf was a total dead ringer for Brian Schechter (minus tattoos and piercings, as far as I could see). It was kind of creepy, but he was fun and kept on rambling about irrelevant stuff and making stupid jokes.
Not that random, because everyone's doing it, and we all know Christmas is aaaall about material goods (Tbh, for me it kind of is, as I'm not a Christian, usually lack the feeling for the festivity of the season, and don't care for forced family time, either.) - here's what I got this year:
In vaguely chronological order:
- a 20€ H&M voucher and a whole load of chocolate from nairie's grandma
- a box of watercolours, canvas and an encyclopedia of art history from nairie
- a small bottle of (really good!) mead and a cute chocolate reindeer (moose?) from shivaluna
- a mix CD from kaoru_is_here
- a puzzle toy thingy from gogoga_gippie
- a coffee cup, matching set of coasters and napkins from ladybanteerin at our secret santa
- 200€, a scarf and a big set of watercolours (this time in tubes) from my mom
- a homemade candle and a drawing from my littlest sisters
- fluffy toe socks and chocolate from my mom's best friend
- 20€ from each grandma and my favourite aunt
I should save it up, but I'll probably use the money that's not from my mother (that will be used to balance my account) to try and find a camera on Ebay, because my old one sucks pretty hardcore and I'm sick of always having to rely on others to take pictures.
I also got, not as presents, but more in a "we don't need it anymore, take it if you want to" way, an electrical manicure set (that I need to find a cable for, but it's good because I kind of like my hands, but my nails tend to look like crap), one of those grain-filled pillows that can be used like a warm-water bottle, and a plaid that might fit over my sofa or might be used as a bed cover.
(As for the things I gave, everyone was really excited about them, which made me ridiculously happy. Deniz actually appreciated the graphic, Mom liked the collage, Vanessa and Sonja immediately put on the shirts I made them and didn't want to take them off again, and my aunt kept rambling about the awesomeness of the calendar I made her for half an hour. Yay!)
I should probably sum up the family visit and stuff, but to be honest, there's nothing interesting to say.
Last, but not least: Belatedly a very happy birthday to sorchasilver and skylar_muc - may you have a fabulous year ahead of you!
