Recently, I was talking with a friend about negativity in fandom and how often we see posts and comments that refer to the negative aspects of fics, writing, authors, etc. Lord knows, there's always someone right there to point out grammatical mistakes, out of character moments, plot holes, etc. Overall, that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I've offered my share of concrit, too, and worded it carefully so as to cause the least injury, and had huffy reactions.
Fandom is a strange place, made stranger because we're not face-to-face.
And good for you! I wish everybody would rec their favorites. I try to remember to, but more often than not they're slash, and I try not to link to slash in my journal due to RL friends and family. :(

You know, I figure that everyone has done some form of this at one time or another. Does that make most of us hypocrites? Well, yeah. ~grin~ But I doubt you'll find anyone alive who hasn't been a hypocrite at one point or another in their lives. ;)

I'm glad. Leaving concrit is taking a risk, but it's a necessary one for a writer to improve. Some writers will see that and others won't, but at least you tried!

I'm always worried that the author is going to do something scary, like mock the review on their own LJ or in the next chapter's notes. I had something similar to that happen. In fact, in one story one of the other reviewers told the author to ignore me. Heh. Despite the fact that I had said nice things as well as critical things.
The yahoo group really is a brilliant idea, but I think that most people signed up just to get updates about tLS, and it worries me to drive them crazy with emails.
One day I might split my journal into two so that I can really babble about stuff. Then again, I might not. I've been arguing about this for almost a year now.

Usually when somebody openly mocks genuinely given concrit, they end up looking like an idiot. Writing isn't easy and if someone offers help, they'd be foolish not to take it. It's too bad that they didn't see that. I can understand your reservations.

So many people have different journals for different things. It does make sense. Although, I'm afraid I'd end up with one lanquishing for too long. Mine already does. ;)
