And what I want to say doesn't always fit in 1 comment... sugangel7 May 22 2009, 06:40:19 UTC
Anyways, I really enjoyed their interaction in this chapter. Although it did serve to highlight how both of them are in such different places right now when it comes to their heads and their hearts. Nathan's ready to take a chance on them; he's certain of what he wants. Haley is doing her best to keep her heart guarded; she has no idea what she wants but she knows she's not ready to get hurt again.

Also, must quote this part:

“I don’t want to hurt him, but I don’t want to be hurt either. Nathan just has these crazy expectations that we can just be together, but we don’t really know each other anymore. He doesn’t know me or the things I’ve done, so what if when he discovers those things, it’s not what he wants? What then?”

This part really stuck out to me. It not only highlights the differences I mentioned above but I'm interested in seeing what is it that Haley's afraid of Nathan finding out about her. Does it have to do with what happened with her after the divorce?

And what she said is also interesting because, in one sense, she almost admitted to the fact that maybe she does want to be with Nathan again but she's just afraid of not being what he wants again. And it has to do with the person she is now, the no-longer-'naive'-sixteen-year-old. And yet, Nathan's not the same person either and he knows that and he's gone through alot of crap as well with the whole rape accusation. He's had to grow as a person but some things stay the same. And him wanting Haley is one of those things.

It's interesting too. That part of the conversation where she said that she wasn't enough for him the first time around and he says that that's not fair. And he's right that it isn't but at the same time that's really how Haley feels and I understand why she does. But again, I think he's always wanted Haley and she was always enough but he was just stubborn and bitter at the time of the divorce.

Those two have alot of issues to work through and I'm interested in seeing how this week progresses. Will they even touch any of those issues or will it be like walking on eggshells around each other? Will things be uncomfortably awkward or uncomfortably normal or a bit of both? I'm very intrigued to see.

Also, I hope Nathan convinces Haley to go back to Tree Hill. Not for his (and their relationship's) sake, but for her own sake. And hey, if it gets her where he wants her (close to him -- proximity-wise I mean) then who can fault the guy?
