What an excellent new story. I'm so glad I found it and I'm so glad your muse has returned. The premise is excellent and original. I could have totally imagined Nathan and Haley breaking up under the circumstances. I like how both Nathan and Haley left Tree Hill at different times. I suspect they both left for the same reason. I also suspect that Nathan planned on Haley catching him with Brooke in the car at school. My speculation was that Nathan couldn't bring himself to trust Haley again even though he desperately loved her. Given Nathan's personality, his distrust could have possibly been based on (1) his fear of being hurt again; and (2) his fear that she left b/c he wasn't good enough. We all know the boy has self-esteem issues which he masks through arrogant behavior. Either way, I like how Haley left and ended up bonding with Peyton, who has her own Brooke issues too. I adore how you've written the Haley/Peyton friendship. It evolved over time and is completely realistic. As to Haley and Lucas, distance, new friendships, new experiences definately have an impact on a friendship. Sure, they are still close and always will be, but they have grown in different directions too. I enjoyed how you wrote them discussing this issue, acknowledging it and, best of all, accepting it without anger or bitterness. It's still a lovely friendship. The Rivercourt boys are priceless. Especially Skills. The mini-reunion definately leaves me with a warm, happy feeling. Now, as to Nathan and Brooke, I can't wait until we hear from them. I'm very interested in their points of view. It gets curiouser and curiouser. As always, I enjoy your writing so very much. It evokes strong emotions. Thank you so much for sharing your story.
