The Limit - Chapter Sixteen

Just a note....the rating squeaks up a tiny bit on this one. I still think it is appropriate for most readers, though, just slightly more explicit than previous chapters.

Thanks for reading, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks for the Thanksgiving present. You rock.

Ohhh...what a wonderful chapter. I don't think I have anything insightful to say because oh, I just can't get over how things are progressing with those two.

Wow. So things definitely progressed emotionally with them in the last chapter at the end and in this one, we see things progress physically as well.

Well, one thing I found interesting was how Nathan wants Haley to need him as much as he needs her. I love that Haley is not necessarily the only one insecure when it comes to this relationship. Nathan, too, will be all unsure about where things stand with them...like here:

“Are we okay?” he asks far more timidly than he would like.

I love seeing that. It just goes to show how much he does care for her and how different she is from other girls since he isn't as cocky and self-assured around her.

Also, OH MY GOSH...how embarrassing that Taylor came in. But better than Lucas right? Goodness, I would've liked died on the spot but that's me.

Oh and I also like how Haley leaned into Nathan's touch instead of just jumping away from him. I was a bit surprised also like Nathan. That's sweet that she didn't. I'm sure Nathan felt better seeing that. And I love that he comforted her when she was freaking out. They are too sweet together.

Anyhoo, aww...those two are both falling so hard for each other. Goodness!

Then, about Nathan's mom...well, it'll definitely be interesting to see how Deb's presence will affect things. Like Nathan, I'm hoping that she'll keep his dad off his back a little bit.

I'm glad Nathan's being wary about her just coming back after such a long absence, because I don't blame him. And I do think that Haley's words to him earlier are what kept him from lashing out at her immediately. Though, I also do think his mother was being sincere. But we'll have to see if she does as she says. But it will definitely not be easy winning his trust.

Aside from Haley, there is no one in his life that he trusts to be real with him.

That gets to me. Trust like that is HUGE. Nathan can't just let that go, he can't! I mean she's practically become the only person he really cares about...how can he risk that? :(

ANYWAYS...my favorite part of the entire chapter was:

Last night, it took her so long to figure out why he’d spread his hand across her breast, just holding it there. And then she realized he was listening to her heart beat, and she wondered if he heard the proof of her life and if it made him feel more secure in his.

That is such a beautiful way to think of it. I've never ever thought about hearing a heartbeat like that. But that would make sense. I mean I've always considered the sound of a heartbeat comforting. But I've never stopped to think why that might be so. And I've never stopped to think then how hearing another person's could, in turn, affect you.

Anyhoo, one more note...I love that Haley didn't let Nathan just walk all over her when he lashed out at her for no good reason. You go girl! It makes me proud to call myself a female. ;)

Alright, well I hope you update when you can. Hope you had a good holiday!
