Phones

Chad has been wanting the new Blackberry 8800, but the only place that has it is Cingular. We were interested in getting a family plan anyways. so we headed over to the Cingular store after Chad got off work (on a side note, we encountered Girl Sprouts selling cookies on the street corner, so we bought some--yum!).

The Blackberry was $300, but Chad was going to spring for it, but it turns out that he would have to get a Chicago number in order for us to get the family plan. Chad insists on keeping his old number, so no plan. I don't have a problem with this. I was in the market for a new phone myself. My old phone was over two years old and it has taken to turning itself off randomly. It also looks beat-up and randomly screws up. I had one phone in mind, but the store didn't have that one in stock, so I ended up with a Motorola Razr V3xx. I never really wanted a razr, but I have to admit, I love the bells and whistles, and it's a pretty phone.

The best part? I got a $50 rebate from Cingular, then I got a $100 rebate for having AT&T Yahoo! DSL. The phone itself only costs $100. Yes, I'm getting $50 for getting a new phone. How awesome is that?

On a slightly ironic note, after we got home, Chad was napping when his Blackberry kept on chirping that he had emails. It woke him into a half-awake state. When Chad is in that state, he's automatically on the defensive. His Blackberry is now broken. That's what happens when one hurls it onto the floor with great force.

I'm pleased with my new phone, and the fact that I'll get a 5% discount because I have it tied to my landline bill and that I earned money for getting a new phone.
