Weekend

This past weekend was Powwow weekend, but I managed to miss almost everyone I wanted to see. Meh.

Friday, I went to the craft fair on campus. They actually gave us extra long lunches so we could go and check it out. Even so, I managed to come back late, but at least I had a shitload of stuff to show for it.

Haul included:
beautiful hand-woven basket from Ghana
some Japanese pottery
handmade bath salts (the Jasmine scent had actual flowers in it)
incense (100 sticks for $5...I haven't seen it that cheap in years)
handmade peppermint soap

After work, I went out for drinks with a coworker, then we hit a nearby bookstore where I bought Nappy Edges by Ntozake Shange. I'd always heard of it, but never read it, and I couldn't pass it up when I saw it in the bargain bin. I also bought another Putumayo CD . I swear, I've never gone wrong with them. They have the best compilations.

Saturday, I lazed around in the morning before running to Borders to buy Hellsing vols 2 and 3 for my friend's birthday. Then I drove up to his place, thinking I was late. I got there and no one was home, so I wandered around the neighborhood for a bit till they came back. His sister (who I went to college with) and his dad were up for the weekend, so it was good to see them again.

I spent the whole day drinking and eating and trying out his new massage pad (which I refused to go near until he stopped calling it his "pleasure droid.") I must have used it too much because my back is actually sore now.

Sunday was hot as fuck. Since Patti wanted to check out the craft fair before she drove back, I met her there around noon. I bought some more Japanese pottery from the same stall. The lady remembered me, which only made me want to buy more...but I was good. After that, I went over to Powwow, but I just couldn't take the heat, and only stayed about an hour. There was an ambulance pulling up as I left, which seemed to be an good a sign as any that it was time to go.

I went home and tried not to burn up in the heat, and called my mom and grandma to wish them a happy Mother's Day.

So all in all, not too bad.
