Life Lessons.

During DruidSynge last summer, we set off the fire alarm. The building was still new and we were learning about the sensitivity of the particulate detectors in the hallway that runs behind the theatres. We turned on four hazers at once with all the doors open, and within minutes we were all evacuating the building in a cloud of smoke. At that time, we set a policy: no hazers or fluid-based fog in that room with the doors open. All doors leading from stage to hall have to be shut, period. Everyone was told who might be running haze or in the presence of others running haze.

Today during the dinner break, the electricians moved the hazer, and needed to test it in its new location to make sure it was working properly. Did they shut all the doors? Of COURSE not. I'm sitting with my boss in the break room eating dinner when the sirens go off.

SIGH. At least Matt knows it couldn't have been my fault, because he was with me at the time.

In other related news, I'm pretty sure I have the most neurotic lighting designer known to man. See, girls? Be glad you've got me. It gets a whole lot worse.
