Harry has been there for three years now, so that his nineteenth birthday was spent alone in his room at the Hog’s Head in a time when no one knows who Harry Potter is.

When Albus Dumbledore finally shows, three years after Harry’s miscalculation with the time turner, Sybill Trewlawney is soon to follow, strutting in with a flurry of beading and fringe decorated with Troll lunulas. Harry takes a deep breath. It will only be minutes, now. Three long years all leading to this moment.

The door opens and closes, and a hunched, sickly figure enters, throwing back his hood, wiping his wet feet on the doormat. Harry makes his move, springing forward.

“Hullo!” he says, far more cheerfully than he feels, and watches Severus Snape’s eyes widen.

“Excuse me,” Severus responds, but Harry isn’t about to let him pass.

“Can you just...?” he stammers, woefully unprepared when it really comes down to it, but he lunges forward for a kiss without really meaning to, just an attempt to cut the confusion of talking out of the equation.

Somehow they end up back in Harry’s room, and this seems as good a plan as any after three years waiting to save his parent’s lives.

Severus asks only that Harry keep his eyes open the whole time.
