A/N: Part of something longer that I'm writing, but this was kind of too much of an amusing Potter moment to wait. And I have no icons with Harry. Hmm. EDIT: Just kidding.
The rain fell uncharacteristically, in big, round droplets. Harry woke to the sound of the patter on the softening mud outside. Draco at the foot of his bed, reading.
“Hullo,” he said quietly when he noticed Harry feeling for his glasses on the beside table. “Hermione just left in Weasley’s car to pick up her prescription. Weasley’s over in his room. You’re supposed to check the art and sports facilities on the east side of campus. I’m supposed to go north to the Mess Hall.”
Harry nodded and stood. Thunder rumbled in the sky outside. There was nothing to be seen outside but utter darkness, except for in a moment when a flicker of lightening illuminated the haunting emptiness of the buildings around them. Across the way he could see the light in Ron’s room, and behind the window the silhouettes of his friend.
“Harry?” Draco said suddenly. His eyes were wide, and his face was pale. He ran an anxious hand through his hair, mussing it ridiculously. “I- we should be friends.”
Harry looked at him quizzically. “That seems like an odd way to put it.”
“You said that we should take a road opposite Weasley’s, so I just- we don’t have to hate each other anymore.”
“We never had to hate each other,” Harry mused. Draco’s face contorted into an expression of outright distress, and Harry took pity. “Friends it is then,” he said, taking a step forward and pressing his lips against Draco’s neck right below the ear.
“Potter!” Draco gasped, pushing him off, just as the lights flickered out. Across the way, Ron’s light had gone out as well.
“Lumos,” Harry mumbled, revealing a fairly shaken Draco.
“Why did you do that?” Draco called over the thunder. Harry pushed open the door and smiled over his shoulder.
“I was just being friendly! And your neck is very soft,” he hollered, stepping out into the pouring rain.
