The crazy eights of synchronicity!! :D
Synchronicity & good luck are returning to my life! :D Finally! After 2 or so years of Murphy's Law (bad timing) & Charlie Brown (bad timing) pretty much ruling my life, it seems the tide is turning. I almost don't want to say anything for fear of jinxing it, but one of the things that seemed to turn the tide was, in fact, SAYING SOMETHING about it! At first I thought all the continued crap was some type of karmic debt, for lack of a better term, that I had to pay off. :( But I ultimately realized there's NO F-ing WAY (excuse my language) that I could ever have been that bad of a person that I deserved such a salvo of so many frustrating, disappointing & depressing things life kept barraging me with!
Anyhoo, a week or so ago I "said" (partly in my mind and partly out loud) that I would like to have, and I deserve to have, the cool synchronicity and good luck back in my life that used to be there. I'm ALWAYS on the lookout for examples of it, so it's not like the placebo effect happened after I had my little "talk" with myself and/or with the universe and I simply started noticing things more. I'm always looking for these things but they just haven't been happening much, if at all. But now they're back and I'm just so happy and humbled and grateful that I have to record it in my blog, even though I have a LOT of other things to get done today, due to tomorrow (Friday) being the day Shawn & I are hosting my bingo group here at our house, and the next day (Saturday) we are hosting my mom, my aunt and my cousins for a family lunch/party (long story). Good thing I'm a super-fast typist because I just GOTTA record all this coolness!
Within a day or two of my "talk" with myself and/or w/ the universe, a few examples of synchronicity happened RIGHT AWAY. Unfortunatley I forgot to write them down so I don't recall what they were. But it was enough to make me feel, guardedly, that maybe the tide was finally turning for the better. And now this week it's continuing, and this time I've concrete examples! :) And most of them include the number eight, which as some of you know is a number that had HUGE SIGNIFICANCE for me many years ago, when it literally came up everywhere, all the time, and heralded many very, very good things w/ its presence. But that's another story.
So, the other day, the Amazon Appstore Free App of the Day was called Galaxy Runes. It looked kinda cool, didn't have any invasive permissions, and was free, so I installed it, having had some good/interesting experiences w/ runes in the past. On the day I installed it, I used its "draw a rune" feature to have it randomly give me a rune. I ended up with this rune:
which goes by various names including wunjo, wyn, wynn and wen. It's loosely called the "rune of joy" and its associations (according to the Galaxy Runes app) are so extremely encouraging and propitious that I almost cried, because most of the stuff it talked about I had not experienced, or had not experienced much of, in a long time! I'm only familiar w/ the associations of a few runes & this was not one of them, so it was an especially happy surprise. On top of all that, it's also the EIGHTH rune, which I also didn't know until I visited this webpage, one of several I visited to see if what they said about the rune was in keeping w/ what the app said. Here's another webpage you can visit that also mentions it is rune 8 and offers some good interpretations, or you can simply google the rune yourself.
THE SAME DAY that Galaxy Runes was the App of the Day and I got this rune w/ the number 8 and w/ such propitious associations of joy, success, fruition, good luck, new beginnings, etc., I also got an email from Demand Studios, a.k.a. Demand Media, for which I was a freelance editor for nearly 2 years before the site went thru some changes (not good), the company went thru some changes (not good), and basically the work dried up. It's a VERY long story about how/why/when I contacted them to see about resuming work, and how it came to pass, but suffice it to say, I am BACK with them! :D The website is working better than before, the pay rate per article edited is better than before, and the caliber of the writers is better than before. All of this equates to LESS headache for me and MORE articles edited by me, which in piecemeal work equates to MORE money! My perseverance and hope and hard work paid off! Of course, I'm not giving up my freelance proofreading/editing of CE courses for GHG, my former employer. That company, and that gig, are both way too good to EVER give up! But now I have another source of income to add to it and I'm so happy!
But the propitious portents don't end there! :D The "crazy eights" thing is picking up even more speed! Yesterday, I drove to San Francisco for a 2-hour focus group hosted by Schlesinger Associates, an eclectic market research company whose database I highly recommend you join (it's free). They coordinate many different types of focus groups and related types of market research studies, they topics are generally interesting, they typically offer refreshments, the moderators are good, and the pay is VERY good! This study, for example, paid $250 -- one of hte highest amounts I've ever gotten for one of these things, and certainly very generous for just 2 hours of my time! The reason I mention it now is because guess what study group I happened to be assigned to? That's right, GROUP 8 !! But wait, there's more! ;) After the study completed, I got into Flora (my car) and texted Shawn that I was about to leave and come home. The time on my phone when I texted him just happened to be 8:08p.m., and I happened to notice that at that moment, the phone battery power was at 88%! Has your jaw dropped yet? If not, here's one more thing for now...
Today, just for fun/kicks, I did a google search for random/lucky number generators. The first website I visited didn't look all that interesting but I decided to give it a try. And so, I had it pick a number for me. I did not keep trying. I only did it ONE time. And guess what number, of all numbers, it generated for me?
