I have several Swatches from the late 1980s and early 1990s. Unfortunately, most of them are now unwearable, due to the little loops on the plastic case breaking, which means the little metal rod that holds the bands on, no longer has any loops to go through. :( The last Swatch this happened to was my FAVE, the wildly colourful
Été from the 1993 Spring/Summer Collection. I feel sad. :( Little-known fact about it -- its hands glow under blacklighting! I noticed this years ago when playing laser tag!
I often peruse eBay to see if anyone has this for sale, but so far no luck. I also check
Squiggly.com and other watch sites, but so far no luck. If ANYONE knows where/how I can buy an Ete, without paying an insane amount of money, please let me know! :) In the meantime, I'm happy that I at least was able to buy this very pretty
1986 Black Coral Swatch on eBay, which I never owned, but I always liked! :) I didn't buy it from that seller, but he/she has a good photo of it. And crazily enough, as of tonight, the high bidder has "shari" as part of her eBay I.D.!!
JAN. 27 EDIT -- Of all the amazing luck! :) On Jan. 25 I found someone on eBay selling a near-mint Ete!!! At first I was aggro, because it appeared she was gouging on shipping, but I did the "ask seller a question" option and today, Jan. 27, I heard back from her! Her price includes the cost of postal insurance plus a tracking number, but she didn't write that in her auction. She also is rather new to eBay and didn't realize you shouldn't "round up" the difference either. But now all is well! She's a VERY nice person and I feel even happier now about bidding on her Swatch! :)
