Cubs Win!

2016 murders yet again.  Only today it was a death everyone outside of Cleveland welcomes.  The Curse of the Billy Goat is officially dead and buried.  Congrats Cubs.

I don't watch baseball as much as I used to.  I know I've seen games over the last decade but the most recent year that I actually recall was 2004 when the Red Sox broke the Curse of the Bambino.  I'm neither a Cubs nor Sox fan (Atlanta all the way) but I can appreciate a long suffering team breaking a legendary curse.  Also, we're not talking about the Yankees or Mets, both teams that deserve to die in a fire on principal (Yankees in particular), so I'm willing to make emotional bonds.  Anyway, even though I don't watch the game as much as I did growing up I still love it.  And, among the many conversations I've had tonight across the social media landscape, two quotes have resonated:

"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops."

Baseball is what gets inside you. It's what lights you up, you can't deny that...
...It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great.
