Been buying on Amazon today - ordered a copy of Core Web 3D second hand from a bloke in Manchester. I was very pleased that he emailed me within about half an hour to thank me for buying it and saying that he'd get it in the post tomorrow. That means it should arrive before my next VR lecture and I'll be able to have a look through it, and perhaps even scratch together some code, before next week's lab. Which is probably a good thing, since there's only about 4 weeks of term left, (or something).
Assuming the book gets here in decent condition it'll have cost me less than £15, which is pretty good for a big chunky IT book. I found time to nip into town between lectures today, and while browsing the computing books in Waterstones I noticed
this book on game design. I want.
Still, christmas isn't far away, so maybe I can save up some christmas money for it. Never really thought of game design as a career, but as a hobby it could be great fun :^) As it is I bought myself a big theoretical book on 3D game engines while we were in Bristol, so if that book is as practical as it looks to be they may be a very good compliment to each other. I guess I might even be able to knock up a final project out of it, although it's more likely that my final project will be something more business-like. Still, I'd guess games make up a pretty large proportion of the world's software sales, so perhaps game programming isn't such a bad idea. Ah well. I'll just see if I like it first, perhaps ;^)
