Yes, I am officially a student of Birmingham University, and have even had lectures. Enjoying it so far, although I've only had a taste of a few modules, but it seems ok. CS labs are 24 hour with a choice of Linux (White Box) or Windows (guess which I'm using ;^) ) and there are even windows (real ones, not MS ones) to look out of while spodding. There's a strict rule about no food or drink in labs, which is a shame because this would be much nicer with a bottle of something to sup on occassionally, but all in all I think I might be able to cope ;^).
At the minute I'm some of the way through a very late lunch break (my Tuesday morning's consist of lectures from 11 until 2) sorting out internet for home and one or two other bits and pieces. Tiscali have passed our brief ethics check on the basis that in so far as telecoms go an independent telecoms company is probably doing as little damage as is just about possible, so 2meg broadband is on order and should go live in just over 2 weeks. Oddly I think they might be sending me a USB modem which would be rather annoying - still, it shouldn't prevent me from using my modem router I already have, and there was no mention of connection charges or anything on the website so if they try to charge me anything I'll kick up stink.
