Triangulation #6
Captain Jackson leant forwards over his desk, putting his upper body weight on his elbows. He looked Tosh in the eye.
“Torchwood Cardiff? Here?” His tone wasn’t menacing, or unbelieving. Jackson was young for a captain, but his sharp mind and affable demeanor had carried him far, and fast.
“Officially I don’t think you’re meant to know about us, but since you clearly do - yes, Torchwood Cardiff, here.” Tosh shifted a little in her seat, holding his gaze, but not that comfortable doing so. “Canary Wharf apparently have their hands full at the moment as they’re all under quarantine. Some sort of lunar terraforming virus.”
Jackson sat back in his chair. “Sounds problematic. Anything we should be concerned about?”
“No, it’s just chemistry,” replied Tosh. “And nobody who works Torchwood baulks at vivisection in the name of science.” She had to break his gaze here.
“But of course you do. You’re human.” Jackson smiled kindly. “I do apologise for the way we had to bring you in, but being in a restricted area…well, our response can be on the Pavlovian side.” He stood and walked towards the door to his office. “You’re welcome to stay as long as you need.”
He opened the door and called to the desk staff. “See to it that Ms Sato is afforded a security vest and orange level security pass.”
Toshiko stood and smiled awkwardly at him. “Thank you for being so understanding. And hospitable. What does orange level security mean?”
“Basically you’ll get in more places than you won’t, but there are still a few places where you can’t. But being Torchwood, anything you can’t you’ll probably find out anyway.” He smiled back at her. “Still, we need to keep up appearances.”
“And my colleague?” she asked.
“Oh, I know all about Jack. He’ll be fine.”

I know what the office looks like (austere, in a plush, comfortable kind of way) and also what Captain Jackson looks like (around 5'10", but fine with being a bit on the shorter side, quite slim, but wiry, dark hair, boyishly attractive, mature without being old or dry). Writing it all in description felt heavy handed, but if you want more details on these things to flesh it out, let me know and I'll adjust the writing style.
Also, anyone who wants to make me an icon featuring Jack, Tosh, Ten, Rose, Giles and Willow photoshopped into standard 'ensemble cast promo photo' layout that'd be swell. Productivity FTW!
