Job

It appears that I got a job at BGU. Can't say that I am happy. Certainly can say that I am relieved.

UPD: Screw this, I AM happy. It just took a while for the news to settle down.

Thanks!

And yeah, I know, I should be happy. It's just I was hoping to be accepted to the Technion. Plus BGU have some really weird requirements (like 10 references. Yep, ten). All this together makes it a little sour. But yeah, these are great news.

I don't know about the details yet. I have just got an e-mail from the department head stating that they are going to start the process of getting me in. I will have to find out a lot of things, including whether they still have the "moving South" requirement. To the best of my knowledge they dropped it, I hope it's true.

And in our field the situation is somewhat better. Let's say that all the 3 universities that I applied to (Technion, TAU and BGU) are hiring. My alma-matter (Aerospace Eng. at the Technion) alone are going to hire 6 people in the next few years.

So, TAU rejected me, but the Technion didn't. They just said that they would discuss my application only for the next year. Why? Politics that have nothing to do with me. That resulted in applying to BGU :).

But surely, I am not going to think twice and take it, and thank ALL the supreme forces I can for it.

Faculty member at the Mechanical Engineering department. Probably at the level of Senior Lecturer (what they call in the US Assistant Professor). What's important is that it is tenure track position.

It looks like a really nice place. Professionally, I prefer it over TAU, for that matter. The only problem is that it is located in Beer-Sheva

it definitely is! If you don't like B7 (well, I can understand this), I can recommend settling in Lehavim. If you choose living in TA it may be quite exhausting to drive to B7 even if you don't plan to do so every day.

Again congrats and good luck -- quick and easy way to your tenure!
