I had to go to work on my birthday this year. I also got hired for another job on my birthday this year. I spent the morning in orientation signing forms and reading hotel policy, then go to the movie gallery straight after that. It wasnt too bad. I went to mahinas pizza for dinner with madi. Calzones arent quite as delicious as I remember them to be but it was good. Bought a 6-pack at ABC store to drink with dinner.. they dont i.d. for byob, so madi drank as well. oh no, breakin the law. Got a brass hookah, borders gift card, and cake from madi. Good stuffs!
So I'm a banquet porter now, setting up furniture and dressing tables for events occuring at the Keaouhou Beach Hotel. Lots of heavy lifting and running around. I dont mind. The other porter is a big local guy named Makaio who likes to take his time doing his job, he tells me I work too fast and when they start serving employee lunch at 10:30 he promptly reminds me that its time to eat, even though we have a two and a half hour window to do so. I find it funny that he sees it necessary to announce his bowel movements with something like "go take break real fast, i gotta make DOO DOO." --I keep working. This past sunday was the lavaman triathalon's first annual kona event, ending at the hotel. I had to be there at 4am (so wake up at 3) to all the set up and running around getting stuff like ice for the coolers and kegs. It was a busy shift. I got out at 12pm though, I still had a whole day. went to the beach and got a little burnt. Getting up that early kind of reminded me of the mornings I had to get up early for shooting projects at LAFS. I miss biking and skating to school early on the boulevard, with the sun in my eyes and the tourists in my way listening to decemberists and other good tunes on the ipod. Ah, those hollywood days..
I just sent a letter to Erin in Moscow. It was a little difficult writing the address in whatever you call the Russian alphabet. Those backwards "N"s threw me off.. Im glad we are back in touch. She thinks so too. Im holding back on letting Madi know I'm writing to her for now. I just know shes going to get super upset about it. Its hard cause Erin and I used to chat online all the time and write letters back in the day, but lost touch over 5 years ago. Finding her again randomly, I'm not content without staying in touch this time.
Im stoked poptarts and cheese were on sale last night at sack n save.
Going to watch Zach and Miri later today, then Sybil which is the first movie Ive ever paid to rent from the gallery. I just had to get it already. Its a classic and it made Sally field a hollywood name. Im still waiting for Shawn to let me borrow Evil Dead 2. I watched the first one a couple weeks ago. It was alright. I was impressed with the clay animation towards the end more than anything. Just wasnt expecting it.. Anticipating Away We Go later this month.
..And Im screaming at the top of my lungs pretending that the echos belong to someone I used to know..
