A writing from a time gone by.

Memento mori. We must remember that one thing that will define our existence.
A threat from a foreign land and it hurts those we hold dearest to us. Yet we are elsewhere, drifting in emotions all too familiar it's almost alien. An image in departure that reminds you of what you don't have and perhaps never will. Still, we remain for the little that is left. Still, we hold on to the allegiance even if it betrays the innermost child trapped drowning in darkness and deluge.
Fighting against the imaginary flood but we never will wake up.
All that we love will be taken away. And even love will be forgotten before it has even begun.
It really only works that way. Believe you him. In the short time that the writer has lived, he knows that where we walk, we only really walk alone. Where we fight, we fight alone.
Memento mori, my dearest. Remember that you are only mortal.

Never has understanding become so misunderstood. And so one becomes none. And how the two shared the pain becomes another story down at memory lane.
We end, we end. And we remember that we are mortal.
Memento mori. The permanence will come. And it is a truth not for them who left but for them who remain.
