It's Joonmyun and Jongin alone on the opposite ends of the couch two hours after they arrive from the airport. They blame their wide-awakeness on jetlag despite the short flight from Beijing back to Seoul. No one believed them, but all the others were too exhausted to care, sauntering to their bedrooms and collapsing on their beds as soon as they got in the dorm room.

The two just wanted time away from the others, in the comfort of each other's company. They were too tired to talk or even play a lazy game of footsie like they used to, but being around each other was good enough.

They shared a blanket with their legs parallel, toes meeting each other's hips. Joonmyun tried to fall asleep with his earphones intact, soft ballad music playing on his phone. He sometimes peeked at Jongin on the iPad. He tried not to worry too much about the furrow of Jongin's eyebrows and the tense press of his lips. But with the way Jongin was staring at the screen, fingers sliding down carefully, Joonmyun couldn't help but stare at him with half-open eyes. At one point, Jongin threw it on the coffee table and curled up so Joonmyun didn't feel the warmth of his legs against his own anymore.

That made his stomach sink; recently, Jongin’s been acting distant. That moment was the closest they’ve been in a while, bare legs against each other’s. Jongin would usually shake Joonmyun’s hands off his shoulders and pull away when their fingers would brush against one another’s. The distance heightened especially on stage, when Joonmyun would try to make it seem like everyone was grateful and excited together when backstage it was only just nerves and tension as everyone practiced their lines individually and Jongin would just flinch away from him when he’d try to show the brotherhood that they tried to showcase and market.

At first, Joonmyun was hurt, but he knew Jongin better than to feel that way forever. Jongin just needed his space. He just wanted to focus on doing well, expectations pushing him over the edge. Joonmyun shouldn’t be a hindrance to him. He regretted bothering Jongin in the first place when he knew he was under a lot of pressure and he just wanted to concentrate, but he couldn’t help but care.

“Is something wrong?” Joonmyun finally said. His eyes were still closed; he had the feeling Jongin would rather not be seen in the state that he was in.

“It’s nothing.” Joonmyun frowned and felt a pang of hurt and distrust, but he could hear the exhaustion in the way Jongin’s deep voice cracked and anxiety in the way he sniffed and sighed, and knew Jongin couldn’t hide a thing from him (or so he hoped).

He knew he should have just pretended that nothing happened, but he felt like he had to do something. He was at a loss, though -- all he could do at this point was be honest.

“You know I love you, right?” he whispered helplessly as he opened his eyes hesitantly, only to find Jongin rubbing his eyes clear of tears.

After a few seconds, Joonmyun felt Jongin’s hand around his. “I know,” Jongin’s said softly, and for the first time in days, he sounded young again. He pushed himself up and squeezed himself beside Joonmyun, forcing Joonmyun’s arm around his to keep him from falling off.

Joonmyun smiled weakly against Jongin’s hair and hung onto his body, promising him silently that he wouldn’t let go. He didn’t mind that Jongin didn’t want to talk about it, that Jongin wasn’t pouring out his heart to him. He didn’t need words to feel trust. He felt trust in the way Jongin clung to him, how his breath felt against his chest and how their legs tangled so they wouldn’t fall. And when they did eventually fall, since the couch too small for two teenage boys to fit even against one another, they fell together.

And that was the way Joonmyun wanted it to be.

listen to iron maiden, baby, with me, amber/kris, pg

prom, amber in a dress, bros before hoes and awkward slow dancing.

It was supposed to be a fun thing, Amber going to prom with both Henry and Kris. When the two of them asked her via a song with horrible lyrics that they co-wrote, it was to show their beautiful three-way bromance that could never be broken.

But as the two stared at the oblivious Amber in her gown, radiating under the soft glow of the ballroom with a butterfly clip Krystal forced her to wear in her hair, they thought that maybe this wasn't a good idea.
"I met her first, man, we've been best friends since kindergarten," Henry whined, eyes never leaving Amber's surprising lipgloss smile.

Kris grimaced. "Dude, the girl never likes the best friend. She always likes the mysterious guy," he said. "That mysterious guy is me."

"Do you even watch tv? Have you ever watched The Lizzie McGuire Movie?" Henry asked in reply.

Kris narrowed his eyes and made a face. "Oh fuck, you're right, Gordo got Lizzie." He then shook his head and frowned some more. "Not the point though. This isn't a movie. I'm asking her to dance with me first."

"No, you little --"

Kris briskly weaved his way towards Amber, feeling Henry grab at his blazer every few seconds and slipping out of his grasp just as easily. He got to Amber first, thanks to his long legs and the fact that people parted like the red sea when they saw his face.

"Am-Amber," he stammered as he tapped her on the shoulder. She spun around with raised eyebrows and damn it, she's so cute --

"Yeah?" Amber suddenly laughed at the his expression. His ego deflated even more but he shook it off, reminding himself to stay cool.

As if god was on his side, the pop song playing moments ago faded and was replaced by a mellow love song. He gulped and held out a hand. "Dance with me?"

Amber smiled up at him, all surprised laughter as she nodded. She snorted in disbelief as he tried to arrange their limbs in the right positions. "My hands don't go there, bro," she said as he lifted her hands with a panicked expression on his face. She maneuvered his hands on her hips and slung her arms on his shoulders as high as her four-inch heels would allow her.

Amber was eye level with Kris's chin, Kris's arms were too long, and the two of them didn't know how to do this swaying dance thing at all -- it was all kinds of awkward and uncomfortable, but they thought it was...nice, and they shrugged it off with small smiles and quiet chuckles.

He felt extra aware of how his hands were on her tiny hips and how soft her lips looked, magnified by how close they were standing next to each other. Kris tried looking everywhere but straight into her eyes. Amber just seemed to be laughing at him silently. He wondered if she could feel his heart beat faster under his bouttonniere.

"Are you okay?" she said, smiling with a hint of concern. He gave her a tight smile back and shook his head.

"No, you're just - you look really good tonight," he said easily. His face fell as soon as he realized what he said. Amber made a sound between flattered and amused, and he expected a mocking comeback, but she said nothing else and just gave him a grin that made his stomach drop.

He locked eyes with Henry from across the dancefloor, where he resigned himself to eating shrimp cocktail. Kris just gave him a smug, triumphant grin, pretending that, no, his hands weren't extra sweaty right now, and no, he was absolutely not falling for his best friend.

untitled, baekhyun/tao, g

martial arts center au wip that i haven't expanded yet because i'm stuck. tao has a huge crush on baekhyun who is an idiot.
originally written for jannah on twitter like i don't know four months ago? i am sorry for not continuing this maybe one day ;~~~;

Tao was carefully setting up his bike lock when he heard something crash against his back wheel. He turned around, eyebrows furrowed, and was about to say, "um, sorry, please be careful," but, /oh,/ it was Byun Baekhyun, backpack hanging charmingly off one shoulder, and he was rendered speechless.

Tao opened his mouth to say something, anything to get him to have a small conversation with Baekhyun - but Baekhyun didn't even stop to say sorry, just flipped his skateboard into his left hand and ran into the martial arts center.

He couldn't bring himself to think that Baekhyun was rude at all. Instead, he whispered to himself weakly, "Why are you so pretty."

Finally realizing that he was going to be late for wushu classes, he grabbed his gym bag and ran inside the martial arts training building.

"Guess what I have in here," Tao heard Baekhyun say in the men's locker room, pulling out his huge water jug from his stuffed backpack. The backpack deflated considerably. Tao knew that Baekhyun wasn't talking to him -- Baekhyun was never talking to him -- but he looked over his shoulder from the metal bench where he was sitting anyway.

A rather lanky, adorable Baekhyun, in his hapkido pants and his tank top, was shoving his jug into his friend's faces in turn. Tao watched as the sleepy-looking one called Sehun sniffed it and made a face, and as the other called Chanyeol turned his confused expression slowly into one of awe. "No fucking way dude --"

"Yes fucking way," Baekhyun said as he grinned mischievously and twisted open the top of the container. Tao watched with wide curious eyes as the lid was lifted off and found that what was inside was -- wait, were those gummy worms?

"Hey, kid that's staring, you're that Huang kid, right? Huang Taoshi?" Baekhyun said, and Tao had to blink to realize that wow, Baekhyun was talking to him.

Tao gulped and opened his mouth, desperate for words to say. "Actually, Zitao --"

"Think fast!" Baekhyun grabbed a gummy worm from his jug and threw it in his direction. Thanks to his fast reflexes, Tao caught it with both his hands. He grimaced a bit. Why was it so slimy?

"Wh-what is this --"

"Eat it," Baekhyun said nonchalantly. Tao sniffed the strange smooth thing in his hand and deepened his frown. It smelled strong and clinical, not at all sweet and sugary.

"But what is it --"

"I promise you'll like it, Tsutao," Baekhyun said. Tao doubted it; just until Baekhyun showed him a million dollar smile and a flash of puppy dog eyes and Tao felt a cross between his heart tumbling about and his waist hurting from a minor injury.

He made a little noise, placed the entire thing in his mouth, then chewed and swallowed it as fast as possible. He choked a bit - he felt like the back of his mouth was burning and his entire tongue was soaked in rubbing alcohol. He scrambled for his water bottle and chugged, spilling most of it's contents on his shirt. Baekhyun and his friends burst out laughing while watching him. Tao felt humiliated, embarrassing himself in front of the guy he's had butterflies for from day one.

He turned around, back to putting his things in his locker, feeling his eyes well up slowly, when he heard Baekhyun call out his name.

"Hey, Zitao," he said, still with a big smile slapped on his face, "It was just a gummy worm soaked in pure vodka overnight."

Tao blushed and nodded, looking back into his locker and pretending to be busy with his zipper. He listened as Baekhyun and his friends slammed their lockers shut, calming down into small fits of giggles until they stepped out of the room. He thought he was alone until he stood up and felt someone pat him on his butt.

"I like you, dude, let's hang out some time," Baekhyun said with a small grin, placing a hand on Tao's shoulder. They stared at each for a fraction too long -- and with another pat on Tao's ass, he broke out into a wide smile and left the room, trailing after his friends.

Tao's slowly hugged his wushu sticks to his chest and made a sobbing noise. He couldn't hate Baekhyun's irresistible face even for one second.
