I've heard on the news that it's the largest one in ages, actually the one they were waiting for since 80 years. :/ My sister is in Tokyo right now, too, talk about unlucky. Good to hear you are home safely. Well, as safely as you can be with an earthquake like that. :|

I don't know anything about waiting 80 years, but all my neighbors, esp the older ones, have all said it was the biggest they've ever felt... hope your sis is okay!

Ah well, that's what they said on the news. I've experiences tiny earthquakes on holidays and found them okay (I... don't even think we get them here, at least not noticeable ones), but can't imagine how bad a real big one must be. The Tsunamis are definitely scary on their own!

the little ones are fine, but this one was pretty scary, and the constant aftershocks were just as scary as the first!

And thanks for the wishes re: my sister. She usually has bad luck but we're hoping to hear from her soon.

please let me know. and also, this probably isn't necessary, but we don't live too far from tokyo. If she needs something, anything from a place to stay, to simple advice, please let me know and I will be happy to help!

Thank you. ♥ Her boyfriend (who's out of town for now)and her share a flat in Green Hills Yamanoi, but she spends the whole day in Tokyo working in some scientific institution (I can't remember what exactly, but she's doing a sociology practical there).

I hope the casualties will stay minimal, but I know that the clean-up afterwards will probably consume a lot of strength, too. That certainly was a piece of scary news to wake up to (it's now about 10 AM here)

yeah, not fun to wake up to at all. It is early in the morning in the US now but I made sure to leave messages for my parents. The news is probably the first thing they will see.

My sister's fine! She currently waits in a 24-hr-family restaurant for her train to start running again; apparently she walked through the city for seven hours. o_o But all is good enough, now, I'm extremely relieved.
