Professional Smugness and Chocolate

I am heartened (as opposed to disheartened) by the fact that I had a half a dozen real, actual reference questions this afternoon. (See, librarianship is not a dying profession as was predicted back at the start of this century. Take that, ex-friend who asked me several years ago why I was wasting my time studying a dying profession!) I am disheartened by the fact that at least two other people who asked for my help are apparently unable to understand the complexities of the alphabet, as in which letter precedes which letter. Then again, that is job security.

This weekend is the Chocolate Affaire in downtown Glendale. Booths of chocolate and other assorted foods as far as the eye can see. Wine tasting! Beer! Live music (no exclamation point here because sometimes the quality of that live music is iffy.) Unfortunately the Affaire seems to be taken over bit by bit, year after year, by increasingly creepy crafts booths. But those can be ignored. What cannot be ignored is the intriguing, disgusting-sounding but supposedly delicious chocolate dipped key lime pie on a stick. Oh, yeah!
