So I just spent too long researching for Story #2, especially considering that I haven't yet written today.

Iyanifa (female priest of Ifa; literally “Mother of Destiny”)
Olodumare, supreme God, removed from everyday human life, all other orishas are aspects
Ase, the power running through all things
Ifa, the system of divination
Dida Owo, casting cowrie shells
Oya, warrior goddess who guards the gates to the underworld; winds, lightening, fire, fertility, magic; In Cuban-derived traditions, the faithful often salute Oya by saying Hekua hey Yansa

Valkyries, literallty “choosers of the slain.”
can take the form of ravens, ride upon wolves
serve Odin, choose the most heroic slain in battle for Valhalla and the fight at Ragnarok
also associated with the nornir (singular, norn)
nornir are essentially the host of Norse fates, concerned only with the future
Brynhildr - byrnie of battle
Sigrdrifa - she who drives victory
Sigrun - knower of mysteries (or spells) of victory

Odin has two ravens as messengers, hugin (thought) and mugin (memory)

quartz, of course, is all purpose
hematite (ground, balance)
jasper, red (protection) and brown (concentration, centering)
onyx (powerful ground, concentration, wisdom, protection)
opal (balance) - will crack if the wearer is stressed
ruby (shielding)
star saphire (guards against evil eye)
black tourmaline (grounding, protection; also the death card)

Chichen Itza - Mayan city in the Yucatan
Ah Puch, god of death, depicted as skeleton adorned with bells, sometimes owl head
Kukulkan, snake god and creator, feathered serpant
Zipacna, underworld demon, depicted as large caiman

I also snagged a couple maps-- both North American and Mexican railroad maps, and a map of the Mexican states.

Yeah.

of progress, research
