wishlist
I did a fandom-centric version of the holiday wishlist that's been going around
Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special
1. More Hawkes love in the fandom! C'mon people! He's vastly underappreciated! He's smart, he's sexy, he's a gentleman, he's got mad chemistry with every other character on the show--where's the love?
(1.5 dear hill harper: i love you, but could you please grow the goatee back?)
2. New header(s). I would really really love at least one new header. If anyone's actually interested, I can be more specific.
3. Music of any and all kinds. (like you're surprised.) It's no secret that I make mixes compulsively, but in my whole life I've only ever had one mix made for me, which makes me kind of sad.
4. For Lindsay Monroe to be canonically gay. Or, failing that, lots of yummy procedural genre femslash.
5. Lots and lots of threesomes in which writers have seriously thought through the logic of all the character dynamics involved. In other words, *emotionally believable* threesomes.
6. Actually, the same could be said for PWPs across the board, be they pairings or moresomes, het or slash. I mean, if all I wanted was generic smuttiness, I'd simply watch more porn. One of these days I'm going to have to articulate a theory of character porn.
7. Fic in which various characters from SGA get stuck in a Cube environment (y'know, like the movie). Preferably they have amnesia and don't know they know each other, rather than au and this is how they meet. (look, i think it's a cool idea, but i really don't want to write it.)
8. A cross-fandom moratorium on characters who are canonically bad at expressing their emotions telling each other "I love you" every five frickin seconds--or at all. (hey, it's a wishlist. i can wish.)
9. CSI:NY Crossover fic which is about banter and the character dynamics of the different groups rather than pairing people off. (not that it has to be gen, per se, but that the pairing is secondary to the character stuff.) Such as any riff on any of the following notions: with CSI (esp Sara, Sophia, Greg), NCIS (esp Gibbs, Abby), LOCI (esp Eames, Logan). I just... really want to see Flack and Sophia try to out-swagger each other, and Sara want to *kill* Danny, and Abby geek out with Adam and sign to Gibbs through the glass walls, and Eames and Stella need to hang out and have amazing sex, and I bet Logan knows and maybe doesn't like Daddy Flack.......
10. Flack-in-handcuffs porn. Apparently, I have a massive kink for this.
