I have a dilemma regarding two pieces I've started. Although the stories are quite different, they are structurally similar--each story contains flashbacks, has clearly defined sections, and is unified by the same pov throughout. I've written the first part of each story, and basically I don't know whether to post either or both as WIPs.
(I do distinguish between series and WIPs, and if I post these in pieces, they are *just* on the WIP side of the line.)
As a reader, I can be ambivalent about WIPs. WIP status alone does not deter me from a story, but it can make it harder for me to get invested. As a writer, I am torn between the desire to post the whole at once and the *need* for those five minutes of satisfaction I get when I post a piece of fic. Plus there's the risk that I won't be able to produce the subsequent parts in any sort of timely fashion, but that in turn is balanced out by the risk that I'll let one or both of the stories go and won't post *any* of it. I think both of these stories have the potential to be really good, otherwise I wouldn't be in such a dilemma.
Please ticky the poll with your honest opinion about reading any and all multi-parted fanfic.
