Getting back to reality

Apr 22, 2011 08:17

I was in New York for about a week. I've been home for four days and it's been a bumpy return to reality. Some of the bumps, I've already mentioned. Some bumps have to do with just getting back into the rhythm and requirements of work and daily living, things I either deliberately left behind (the day job) or were attended to by others (dish washing, cat feeding, home cleaning and maintenance). How quickly I got out of the habit of making my daily to-do lists, of remembering the little things that lubricate the flow of productivity. The first two days of Passover got lost in my travel across the country; I missed both seders and find myself feeling out of step with the holiday. And I'm having trouble getting back into the practice of writing, which is particularly frustrating.

I have a full day of work today, and then tomorrow I'll be spending my single day at Norwescon.

Then comes Sunday, on which I plan to sleep in, then do things slowly and just enjoy the day. Maybe it will help me reset back to more functioning daily habits.
