Here's a transcript of my Twitter stream for tonight, edited for clarity and readability:
Overcast in Seattle. The moon is a bright, glowing smudge almost directly above. Still hoping the clouds will part.
Still overcast in Seattle. Moon is visible as a smudgey half-moon through the clouds.
Raining in Seattle but, paradoxically, moon is clearer. Detail visible to the naked eye at the terminator. So pretty!
Rain in Seattle has stopped. Clouds scudding in front of the moon, but it's still visible, slowly diminishing.
Totality! The clouds are just thick enough to make it look like there's no moon at all.
The clouds are just thick enough to make it look like there's no moon, but they're all tinged with a reddish glow!
Big white clouds have moved in front of our #lunareclipse in #Seattle. Wondering if I'll last until the moon's return...
Retweeted @fogfish: Galileo Galilei was alive the last time a winter #solstice lunar #eclipse occurred.
Balcony doors rumble open & closed thru-out the building. Everyone is watching for the moon's return!
@KeithOlbermann said: All of us looking at Eclipse are nerds. All of us looking at Twitter are nerds. All of us tweeting about Eclipse are Mega-nerds. Good night!
I replied: Mega-nerds unite! Wouldn't have it any other way.
Happy #Solstice, world! The sun begins its long, slow return. This child of summer can't wait!
Sky still completely overcast in #Seattle, a weird a glowy pink. I'm yawning. Time to hit the sack. Thanks, celestial wheel!
Hope the moon returns! ::wink::
