Norwescon's this weekend, so I thought I'd post my schedule. Should you wish to find me:
Friday / 11:00 AM / Cascade 6
View Point - a never ending challenge
You know the he, she and the cat shouldn’t be thinking
in the same paragraph, page or even section. So, is that
the end of Viewpoint’s problems? How about who gets the
scene? How many viewpoint characters can one book have
and what do you owe them. And why do folks who break all
the rule sell millions? Warning, nuts and bolts will be
flying, some out the window. Not for the faint of heart.
G. David Nordley (M), Mike Shepherd Moscoe, Janna Silverstein, Kelly Young, Ken Scholes
Saturday / 9:00 AM / Cascade 8
Rejection - A Survival Guide
You mail it out. It comes back rejected. Nobody likes
rejection. But nobody becomes a writer without getting
a lot of it. How some folks manage to laugh in the face
of it ... or at least cry where nobody notices.
Jeff Ayers (M), Honna Swenson, Louise Marley, Bruce B. Taylor, Janna Silverstein
Saturday / 3:00 PM / Cascade 4
Science fiction and fantasy in mainstream fiction
Our panel will discuss such books as “The Time Traveler's
Wife” by Audrey Niffenegger, “The Glass Books of the Dream
Eaters” by Gordon Dahlquist touted as mainstream literature
that are really science fiction and fantasy books.
Jeff Ayers (M), Ted Butler, Kay Kenyon, Vladimir Verano, Janna Silverstein
My workshop sessions are:
Thursday 7 PM
Saturday 1 PM
Sunday 10 AM
Anyone want to have an early dinner Thursday evening? Breakfast or lunch on Friday?
Didn't take a hotel room this time, so will be commuting the whole weekend. Can you say miserable with a capital M? Still, it'll be less expensive than taking a room would have been. Too, it'll cut down on the convention saturation I sometimes experience.
I should also note for the record that
tbclone47 is advocating that I stick around Saturday night to participate in Talebones Live! I'm toying with this if for no other reason than the event usually gathers many of my favorite people in one roomwith prizes! ::grin:: But I'm really feeling like I have nothing to read for the event. He says I should read a partial something in that case. Hm, say I. Perhaps I ought to let the groupmind think for me.
